8 - Hour Rigging Worker Refresher
Description:
Students who do not pass the written or practical exam will have one opportunity to retake the entire 16-hour course and retake the exam at a reduced fee.
This course is a requirement for an individual – who is not employed by a licensed rigger – to perform rigging or signaling work in conjunction with the hoisting or lowering of articles on the outside of a building with hoisting equipment. This individual would have already taken the 16 Hour Rigger Worker and is taking this course to renew it.
In lieu of completing this course, an individual may instead possess a department approved national rigging certification. (NCCCO Rigger Level I)
To perform rigging or signaling work in conjunction with the hoisting or lowering of articles on the outside of a building with hoisting equipment, an individual must either (i) complete this course, (ii) possess a Department-approved national rigging certification, or (iii) be employed by a licensed Rigger.
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this training course. However, students must be able to communicate with the instructor in the language that the training is provided in.
Course Materials: This course consists of several different components including a PowerPoint presentation, lecture, case studies, class discussions and hands on demonstrations. We will provide a student manual which will include all relevant written standards

Completion Requirements: 100% attendance and active participation in all learning activities including hands-on class exercises and the final exam is required. Students must earn a score of 70% or higher on the written and practical examination to receive a 16-Hour Rigging Worker ID card. This card is valid for 4 years.
